My story

The very beginning

My hypnobirthing story began when I fell pregnant, but the journey started way before then. When I was 18, I was told that I had something called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), and that I would most likely struggle to have children. This terrified me, as for as long as I could remember, I knew someday I wanted to become a mum. I was so very fortunate that by then I’d found my life partner in my high school sweetheart. The years flew by and before I knew it we were finally married and one short year later… we were pregnant!

Finding hypnobirthing

Once the morning sickness had calmed down and I started to settle into pregnant life, all of a sudden, it hit me. One way or another, I’d have to get this baby out! As a particularly anxious person, especially regarding what I call ‘the unknown’,  I let this thought consume me. All I could picture was what I’d seen on TV. I Googled and Googled but all I saw made me worry even more. Then, one morning, I was watching the latest upload of one my favourite YouTubers,  Louise Pentland (also pregnant at the time), and the magic word ‘hypnobirthing’ was mentioned.

Having Ezra

After researching, I was amazed by the whole concept, and clung onto the idea of a positive birth experience. From then on, I put all my energy into learning and practicing the KGH method of hypnobirthing. And five months later, I had the most incredible experience of my life.  Ezra came into the world with a wonderful water birth in my local birth centre.
