At the heart of hypnobirthing is the ability to release fear and physical tension that affects the way our bodies react to the birth process. Over the past century, the media has built into us a vision of what birth is like. Not to mention every other woman who talks about the ‘terrible time’ she had. This vision is unpleasant, and nowhere near what birth can be if we change our mindset about our body’s ability to birth naturally and comfortably.
On our hypnobirthing course, you will learn to relax into labour and birth so that you can work with your body’s natural ability to birth smoothly, calmly and effectively. This is quite the opposite to clenching, pushing, screaming and becoming red in the face and bursting some blood vessels whilst fighting baby out!
You will learn the physiology of birth, so that when the time comes, you know exactly what your body is doing and why. This way, although your body will be working on instinct, you can feel in control and calm.
Although we may plan for a no-fault birth, it’s very easy to be swept up on the ‘conveyor belt of care’, leaving you feeling as though you are making decisions that you do not fully understand. Therefore, we spend some time going through all the choices available to you, so you can make the right decision for you and your baby calmly and confidently.
Hypnobirthing is for every birth. It’s for home births, water births, birth centre births, labour ward births, planned caesarian sections, unplanned sections and guess what? It’s also for the tiny percentage that end up being last minute emergency sections. You and your birth partner deserve a positive, calm and beautiful birth that you will both look back on in awe.
